Local community groups were presented with donations during the Rotary Club of Charters Towers’ presentation night at Salt Lane Café late last month.
The local groups who received donations included the Charters Towers Hawks Soccer Club, Charters Towers Girl Guides, Our Town Association Inc, and the Charters Towers Scout Group.
The Rotary Club of Charters Towers is a long-standing service organisation made up of dedicated locals who volunteer their time to improve the community.
From supporting youth programs and donating vital resources to hosting markets and fundraising for important initiatives, the club plays an active role in building a stronger, more connected region.
Their work continues to quietly shape lives across Charters Towers and beyond through practical, people-focused service.
The Rotary Club of Charters Towers shared an official statement on social media shortly after the event concluded.
The statement highlighted the key role Goldtower Central has played in enabling the Rotary Club to support local organisations and give donations.
“The Rotary Club of Charters Towers wishes to express its sincere gratitude to all who attended tonight’s event, a testament to the power of community,” the post read.
“We are deeply indebted to Goldtower Central for their ongoing support, especially with the monthly markets, which have become a vital source of funding for our charitable endeavours.
“As our president, Bob Murray, aptly remarked tonight, ‘the markets are our biggest source of income, enabling us to provide vital donations to local clubs and give back to our community.’
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Robyn and her team at Salt Lane café for their hospitality tonight.
“As always, we are delighted to be in a position to provide these donations, which will undoubtedly have a profound impact on local clubs and volunteer organisations, inspiring them to continue their invaluable work in our community.”
Key community members at the presentation night included Cr Kate Hastie, Get Branded’s Madonna Simmons, Goldtower’s Ian Turner, Scout Group Leader David Mathieson, Girl Guide leader Lyn Pichard, Our Town Association Inc member Lyn Simatis, and Charters Towers Junior Soccer’s Sonia Bennetto.
